Strengthening the Jesuits' universal vision by telling lies
March 12, 2025
In a press conference organised on 10 April 2025 in the headquarters of the Associazione della Stampa Estera in Italia –
an association of journalists from foreign media houses who work in Rome – Father General Arturo Sosa SJ said: "On the issue of safeguarding, he expressed the pain and closeness of the Society of Jesus
with victims who have suffered sexual abuse at the hands of Jesuits.
He noted that the entire Society of Jesus is actively engaged in initiatives to foster a culture of protection.
This effort began with a thorough audit of each Province/Region, followed by strategies aimed at breaking the silence
and establishing effective protocols for addressing abuse cases . The effort also includes creating dedicated channels
for listening to victims, providing spaces for healing, and encouraging ongoing safeguarding education for Jesuits and their collaborators. "
comment:
As far as my experience with the Society of Jesus Australia goes, this is complete bullshit. "pain and closeness to the victims"
- This author has been legally banned from talking to any Jesuit or anyone associated with the Jesuits.
- Xavier College and the Society of Jesus do absolutely nothing to help or be "close" to survivors
their policies and strategies are designed to keep survivors far away.
- Jesuit Provincial Quyen Vu SJ will not meet with a survivor after a settlement for abuse.
"strategies aimed at breaking the silence"
- Any attempt or request by survivors for greater truth and transparency is always blocked or denied.
- Covering up the truth is the objective, like in trying to shut down this website.
"effective protocols for addressing abuse cases"
The Australian Jesuits have no claims response protocol.
There is no independant investigation of a claim.
A claim is investigated and assessed by their own Director of Professional Standards, a former counter-intelligence Federal Police Officer.
"dedicated channels for listening to victims, providing spaces for healing"
There is no "dedicated channel" or any channel at all for a survivor to be heard.
Xavier College will tell you to go see the Society of Jesus, at the Society of Jesus headquarters
you can speak to the unqualified Director of Professional Standards who also briefs lawyers and
runs the defence against any claim you might make.
The defence is always "it never happened, and even if it did, which we deny, we are not liable".
There is certainly no "space for healing", whatever that is supposed to mean.
